PROGRAM OVERVIEW

VOLT Academy is a beginner program designed for 3rd – 5th graders, interested in learning and playing the game of volleyball. VOLT is focused on teaching young volleyball players basic athletic movements, while introducing fundamental volleyball skills, and preparing them for competitive, game play.

  • Coaching Staff: Certified VOLT Coaches
  • Who: 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders
  • Where: Courts Plus, Rustad Recreation Center and area schools
  • Timeline: 90-minute sessions

VOLT Academy is focus on players getting more touches by playing 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4 – maximizing the opportunities for individual skills and drill work

We encourage players to go through the academy for at least 2 sessions before being placed on a VOLT team prior to 6th grade.

ACADEMY SCHEDULE - FALL SESSION 2024

VOLT ACADEMY is back in action for FALL 2024!

Please note that the Academy program is designed for players entering grade 3-5 and have an interest in being a part of the VOLT Volleyball program as they approach the 12's level.  If a 10-11U player(s) is interested in trying out for a team in the Fall 2024, we highly suggest participants join FALL Academy for proper assessment and skills training.  
 
  • COST:  $300.00 + cost of volleyball if needed ($40.00)
  • CAMP LOCATION: RUSTAD RECREATION CENTER

 

  • There will be 9 sessions and the final Tournament / Scrimmage VOLT Day of Fun Event
  • VOLT Day of Fun will be December 8 (tentative time:  3:00 - 6:00 p.m.)

October 20 2:00 - 3:30 p.m.
November 3 4:30 - 6:00 p.m.
November 10 4:30 - 6:00 p.m.
November 17 4:30 - 6:00 p.m.
November 24 4:30 - 6:00 p.m.
December 1 4:30 - 6:00 p.m.
December 8:  VOLT DAY OF FUN Tentatively 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Once registration is complete, parents/guardians and participants will have access to their assigned Academy schedule via SportsEngine.  SportsEngine will provides the team practice schedule, chat feature, and contact information to coaches. 

Academy Skill Development

Prior to advancing to 11-12U programming, we are evaluating the following skills throughout our Academy sessions.  We highly recommend attending at least two Academy sessions prior to the competitive 11-12U program.

  • Serving consistently behind the legal 12U end line
  • Movement to the ball in serve receive
  • Game strategy - players looking to make (3) contacts prior to sending the ball back to the opposing team
  • Over-head contact / ability to downball over the net

Looking for the next Academy program....

VOLT runs 3-4 Academy session throughout the year, season by season.  Communication regarding the next Academy registration will be posted to social media and the VOLT website.
